The Godavari is a river in south-central India. It starts in the western state of Maharashtra and flows through the modern state of Andhra Pradesh before reaching the Bay of Bengal. It forms one of the largest river basins in India.
With a length of 1465 km, it is the second-longest river in India, second to The Ganges, and the longest in southern India. It originates near Trimbak in Nashik District of Maharashtra state and flows east across the Deccan Plateau into the Bay of Bengal near Yanam and Antarvedi in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
