(a) Firstly we simplify the fraction

\frac{9}{24}

=

\frac{3}{8}

Now the LCM of denominator 8 and 16 is 16.

\frac{9}{16} + \frac{3}{8} = \frac{9 + 6}{16} = \frac{15}{16}

Then he walks
