Picnic invites two kinds of charges: bus fare, which is independent of the number of people attending the picnic and buffet lunch, which increases directly with an increase in the number of people. The charges are calculated to be Rs. 165 per head when there are 200 invitees and Rs. 170 per head when there are 150 invitees. What would be the charges per head when there are 100 invitees?

A . Rs.175

B . Rs.180

C . Rs.185

D . Rs.190

Ans. (b) Let the bus fare = Rs. x
and buffet lunch per head = Rs. y

x + 200 y = 165 \times 200....... (i)

x + 150 y = 170 \times 150....... (i i)

Then,

x + 100 y = 2 \times (i i) - (i) = 51000 - 33000 = 18000

Therefore, Cost per head = Rs. 180
