Question

If a dozen of bananas cost ₹ 24, while 10 apples cost ₹ 100, then how many times an apple is costlier than a banana?

Options:
A .   Three times
B .   Four times
C .   Five times
D .   They have the same price
Answer: Option C
:
C

The cost of 12 bananas = ₹ 24,
So, the cost of one banana =
 2412= 2
The cost of 10 apples = ₹ 100,
So, the cost of one apple =
 10010= 10
Therefore, the ratio of the cost of an apple to that of a banana = ₹ 10 : ₹ 2 = 5 : 1.
So, an apple is five times costlier than a banana.
