To find the zeroes, equate the polynomial to zero and then factorise.
$∴ x^{2} - 8 x + 12 = 0$
$\Rightarrow x^{2} - 6 x - 2 x + 12 = 0$
$\Rightarrow x (x - 6) - 2 (x - 6) = 0$
$\Rightarrow (x - 6) (x - 2) = 0$
$\Rightarrow x - 6 = 0 or x - 2 = 0 \Rightarrow x = 6; 2$
$2 and 6 are the zeros of the quadratic polynomial.$
