• Endocrine glands and exocrine glands are two types of glands in the human body based on absence or presence of ducts.


• Endocrine glands secrete their respective hormones directly into the blood stream i.e., they are ductless glands. For example: Pituitary, adrenal, pancreas, pineal, thyroid glands etc.


• Exocrine glands have ducts to pass their secretions. For example: sweat, salivary, mammary, ceruminous, lacrimal, sebaceous, and mucous glands.

The movement of plant due to touch is called thigmotropic movement.

Mylein sheath which covers the axon with certain gaps between two successive sheaths is composed of fatty material. Myelin with its various components is a perfect insulator and does not allow electric charges to pass through it.

Thyroxine is a hormone that is secreted by the thyroid gland and regulates the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats and maintains the balance of growth.

Auxin is a plant hormone and is responsible for the growth of the shoot.
Adrenaline is a hormone secreted in the animal body and it affects the heart rate, dilation of pupils, etc.

The Nodes of Ranvier, also known as myelin sheath gaps, are the gaps (approximately 1μm in length) formed between the myelin sheaths generated by Schwann cells. Electrical impulses jump from these nodes.

Thyroxine, a hormone that contains iodine, is secreted by the thyroid gland. It increases the rate of cell metabolism and regulates growth. Thyroxine can also be made synthetically for the treatment of hypothyroidism.

The adrenal glands are two glands that sit on top of our kidneys. They secrete the hormone known as adrenaline. Adrenaline creates a 'fight or flight' response. 'Fight or flight' is a type of response that helps us prepare to face or runaway from a dangerous situation.
