The first discovery of rock paintings was made in India in 1867–68 by archaeologist Archibold Carlyle. Traces of rock paintings have been found on the walls of caves in several districts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh , Karnataka and Bihar.
Statement 2 is incorrect:Prehistoric painters used a number of colours. Bhimbetka 's paintings, in particular, show vivid paintings. Bhimbetka 's artists used many colours, including various shades of white, yellow , orange, red ochre, purple, brown, green and black. Yet white and red were their favorite colours.
Statement 3 is correct:Hunting scenes predominate the Mesolithic paintings. The hunting scenes depict people hunting in groups, armed with barbed spears, pointed sticks, arrows and bows.
