Question
After generation of action potential, the recovery process is called _____.
Options:
A .  Depolarisation
B .  Hyperpolarization
C .  Repolarisation
D .  No change
Answer: Option C
:
C
After generation of action potential, the recovery process is called repolarization. The onset of action potential is marked by the opening of voltage-gated Na+channels. The depolarisation that occurs due to thiscauses the neuron membrane to attain a voltage that triggers the opening of voltage-gated K+ channels. Then K+ ions rush out through this channels, reducing the positive charge inside the neuron and causing repolarisation of the neuronal membrane.
