Agniveer is a special recruitment scheme for the Indian Army, Air Force & Navy that has recently been introduced.

One of the most commonly asked questions by candidates is about the Agniveer age limit.

Earlier, the age limit was set at 17½ - 21 years, which was later revised to 17½ - 23 years, applicable only for the Agniveer 2022 batch.

Recently, the Union government announced a one-time waiver, extending the Agniveer upper age limit for recruitment to 23 years from 21 years.

In addition to this, the Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to grant 3 years of age relaxation beyond the prescribed upper age limit for Agniveer recruitment in CAPFs & Assam Rifles.

This means that candidates up to the age of 26 years can now apply for Agniveer recruitment in CAPFs & Assam Rifles.

It is important to note that the age limit criteria may vary depending on the specific recruitment advertisement released by the Indian Army, Air Force & Navy.

Agniveer Age Limit for Indian Army: All You Need to Know


If you aspire to join the Indian Army through the Agniveer scheme, you must meet certain eligibility criteria, including age limits.

As per the latest announcement, the age limit for Agniveer recruitment in the Indian Army is between 17½ years and 23 years as of the date of enrollment, i.e., as on 1st October 2022.

This means that candidates must have been born between 1st October 1999 and 1st April 2005 to be eligible for Agniveer recruitment in the Indian Army.

It is important to note that this age limit criteria may vary depending on the specific recruitment advertisement released by the Indian Army.

Candidates are advised to carefully read the eligibility criteria mentioned in the recruitment advertisement before applying to ensure that they meet all the requirements.

Agniveer Age Limit for Indian Air Force


As per the Indian Air Force Agniveer Recruitment 2022 Notification, the eligibility criteria for Agniveer in Indian Air Force is as follows:

The minimum age to apply for Agniveer in Indian Air Force is 17.5 years (17 ½ years).

The upper age limit for Air Force Agniveer as on the date of enrolment must be 23 years.

The candidates must have been born between 29 December 1999 and 29 June 2005 (both days inclusive).

Therefore, candidates who are unmarried Indian male citizens and meet the above eligibility criteria can apply for the Agniveer Vayu Batch Intake 1/2022. It is important to note that meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee selection, as candidates will need to clear all the selection rounds to be considered for enrolment in the Indian Air Force.

Agniveer Age Limit for Indian Navy


The minimum age for applying to Indian Navy Agniveer Recruitment 2022 is 17.5 years (17 ½ years).

The upper age limit for Agniveer Batch 1/2022 has been revised to 23 years.

Candidates belonging to CAPFs (Central Armed Police Forces) and Assam Rifles can avail of a relaxation of up to 3 years beyond the prescribed upper age limit.

It's important to note that meeting the age limit criteria does not guarantee selection, and candidates will need to fulfill all the other eligibility criteria and clear all the selection rounds to be considered for enrollment in the Indian Navy.
