Question

The  radius of the cylinder is half its height and area of the inner part is 616 sq. cms . Approximately how many litres of milk can it contain  ?

Options:
A .  1.4
B .  1.5
C .  1.7
D .  1.9
E .  2.2
Answer: Option B

If is given that  `r = 1/2 h and  2 pi rh + pi r^2 = 616 m^2`

`:.`       `2pi xx 1/2 h xx h + pi xx 1/4 h^2 = 616`

`rArr    5/4 xx 22/7  xx h^2 = 616`

`rArr h^2 = (616 xx 28/110)`

`rArr     h^2 = (28 xx 28)/(5)`

`:.`     Volume =` pi r^2 h = 22/7 xx 1/4 h^2 xx h` = `22/7 xx 1/4 xx (28 xx 28)/(5) xx 28/sqrt(5)  cm^3`

=`   ((22 xx 28 xx 28)/(25) xx sqrt(5))` `cm^3`

=`((22 xx 28 xx 28 xx 223)/(25 xx 1000))_` litres = 1.53 lires.
