Answer: (c)
In 1939, the name of the kingdom, “Siam”, was changed to “Thailand”. Before 1957 Ghana was called the Gold Coast. Portuguese explorers in the 15th century found a vast amount of precious metal there, but it was English colonizers who dubbed the country the Gold Coast.
The territory of what is now Zambia was known as Northern Rhodesia from 1911. It was renamed Zambia at independence in 1964.
The new name of Zambia was derived from the Zambezi river. The official Japanese language name is Nippon koku or Nihon koku, literally “State of Japan”.
From the Meiji Restoration until the end of World War II, the full title of Japan was the “Empire of Greater Japan”.
