Question

A hollow spherical metallic ball has an external diameter 6 cm and is `1/2` cm hick. The volume of metal used in he ball is  :

Options:
A .  `37 2/3 cm^3`
B .  `40 2/3 cm^3`
C .  `41 2/3 cm^3`
D .  `47 2/3 cm^3`
Answer: Option D

External radius = 3 cm . Internal radius = (3 - 0.5) cm =  2.5 cm

Volume of the metal  = `[4/3 xx 22/7 xx (3)^3  - (2.5)^3] cm^3`

                                  = `(4/3 xx 22/7 xx 91/8) cm^3`

                                  =`(143/3)^3cm^3`

                                  =` 47 2/3 cm^3`
