There are four persons A, B, C and D. The total amount of money with A and B together is equal to the total amount of money with C and D together. But the total amount of money with B and D together is more than the amount of money with A and C together. The amount of money with A is more than that with B. Who has the least amount of money?
Options:
A .  B
B .  C
C .  D
D .  Cannot be determined
Answer: Option A
Answer: (a)
Let A, B, C and D denote the amounts with these individuals respectively.
Then, A + B = C + D, B + D > A + C, A > B.
Now, B + D > A + C and A > B = B + D > A + C > B + C (∫ A > B) = B + D > B + C = D > C.
Also, A + B = c + D, A > B and D > C = 2B < A + B = C + D < 2C = 2B < 2C = C > B. Now, A > B, C > B, D > C = A > B, D > C > B.
Thus, each one of A, D and C has more amount than B.
Hence, B has the least amount.
