Question

The height of an equilateral triangle is 10 cm. Its area is :

Options:
A .  `100/3 cm^2`
B .  30`cm^2`
C .  100`cm^2`
D .  `100/sqrt(3) cm^2`
Answer: Option D

Let each side be a cm.

Then ,`(a/2)^2 + (10)^2 = a^2`

`hArr    (a^2 - a^2/4) =  100`

`hArr  (3a^2)/(4) = 100`

`hArr    a^2 = 400/3`

`:.`   Area = `sqrt(3)/4 xx a^2 ` = `( sqrt(3)/4 xx 400/3) cm^2`

= `100/sqrt(3) cm^2`
