Question

The circumference of a circle is 100 cm. The side of a square inscribed in the  circle is  :

Options:
A .  `50sqrt(2)` cm
B .  `100/ pi` cm
C .  `(50sqrt(2))/(pi)` cm
D .  `(100sqrt(2))/(pi)` cm.
Answer: Option C

`2 pi R = 100`

`hArr    R = (100)/(2 pi) = 50/pi`

`R = 1/2  xx diagonal `

`hArr  diagonal  = 2R =  (2 xx 50)/(pi) =  100/ pi`

`:.`    Area of the square  = `1/2 xx (diagonal )^2 = 1/2xx (100/pi)^2`

      `hArr      a^2 = 1/2 xx (100/pi)^2`

`hArr    a = 1/sqrt(2) xx 100/pi = (50sqrt(2))/(pi) ` cm.
