Question

In a division sum, the remainder is 0 when a student mistook the divisor by 12 instead of 21
and obtained 35 as quotient. What is the correct quotient ?

Options:
A .  25
B .  20
C .  15
D .  10
Answer: Option B

Let x be the number
x ÷ 12 = 35 , remainder = 0
=> x = 35 × 12

$$ \cfrac{x}{21}
= \cfrac{35\times12}{21} = \cfrac{5\times12}{3} = 5*4 = 20 $$
