Question

If the radius of a circle is increased by 75% , then its circumference will increase by  :

Options:
A .  25%
B .  50%
C .  75%
D .  100%
Answer: Option C

Let original radius be R cm.

hen original circumference = `(2 pi R)` cm

New radius =  (175% of  R) cm = `(175/100 xx R) cm =  (7R)/(4) cm`

New circumference = `(2pi xx (7R)/(4))cm = (7 pi R)/(2) cm`

Increase in  circumference =` ((7piR)/(2) - 2pi R) cm =  (3pi R)/(2) cm`

Increase % = `((3 pi R)/(2) xx (1)/(2 pi R) xx 100)`% = 75%`
