Question

If the perimeter of an isosceles right riangle is `(6 + 3sqrt(2))`m , then the area of the triangle is  :

Options:
A .  `4.5m^2`
B .  `5.4m^2`
C .  `9m^2`
D .  `81m^2`
Answer: Option A

Let the side be a metres, and  b metres.

Then , 2a + b  =  6 + `3sqrt(2) and b^2 = a^2  + a^2  = 2a^2`

`hArr    b = sqrt(2) a`

`:.`    `  2a + sqrt(2) a = 6 + 3sqrt(2)`

`hArr     a = 3`

`:.`   Area = `(1/2 xx 3 xx 3) m^2 = 4.5 m^2`
