  2.    Rs.160
  3.    Rs.1081.60
  4.    Rs.99
 Discuss Question
Answer: Option A. -> Rs.81.60

SI = 40 + 40

CI =
40 + 40 + 1.6 = 81.6

Question 925. A sum of money place at compound interest doubles itself in 4 years. In how many years will it amount to eight times itself?
  1.    16
  2.    8
  3.    12
  4.    20
 Discuss Question
Answer: Option C. -> 12

100 ---- 200 ---- 4

              400 ---- 4

               800 ---- 4

                          ------

                            12 years

Question 926. The difference between compound interest and simple interest at the same rate on Rs 5000 for 2 years is Rs 72. The rate of interest per annum is:
  1.    6%
  2.    8%
  3.    10%
  4.    12%
 Discuss Question
Answer: Option D. -> 12%

Let the rate be r % p.a,
Then
S. I = Rs (5000 — r/100 — 2) = Rs (100r)
 C. I = Rs[5000 — (1 + r/100) 2 - 5000]
= Rs {5000 — [(1 + r/100) 2 “ 1]}
= Rs [5000 — (r2/2 + r/50)]
 The Difference Between Compound Interest And Simple Interes...
= Rs (r2 /2 + 100r)
(C.I) “ (S.I) = (r2/2 + 100r) “ (100r) = r2/2
Therefore, r2/2 = 72
 => r2 = 144
=> r = 12
Hence, Rate = 12 % p.a

Question 927. Simple interest on a certain sum of money for 3 years at 8% per annum is half the compound interest on Rs. 4000 for 2 years at 10% per annum. The sum placed on simple interest is:

  2.    Rs. 1650
  3.    Rs. 1750
  4.    Rs. 2000
 Discuss Question
Answer: Option C. -> Rs. 1750

Question 928. If the simple interest on a sum of money for 2 years at 5% per annum is Rs. 50, what is the compound interest on the same at the same rate and for the same time?
