Question
What is the prominent mode of heat transfer within a liquid when it is heated?
Options:
A .  Conduction
B .  Convection
C .  Radiation
D .  All the modes are dominant
Answer: Option B
:
B
Convection is the dominant process of heat transfer in fluids (such as water). When heated, the molecules in the fluid move from region of higher density to that of lower density. When heated from below, hot water from the bottom move to the top and simultaneously, cold water from the top moves to the bottom.
