Question

Vaidehi's teacher asks her to find out the average(Arithmetic Mean) of 3 integers x,y and z, given that x
1. (x + y)z = 5
2. (x + z) < 3

Options:
A .   (A)
B .   (B)
C .   (C)
D .   (E)
E .   660
Answer: Option D
:
D

We get two values even on combining both cases.

Case 1: x = -3, y = 4, z = 5      x + z = 2 < 3      x + y + z = 6
Case 2: x = -3, y = -2, z = -1      x + z = -4 < 3     x + y + z = -6

Hence both statements together are also insufficient
