S_{n} = (1 + 4 + 16 + 64) + 4^{4} (1 + 4 + 16 + 64) + . . . . . . . . . . . . . . + 4^{40} (1 + 4 + 16 + 64) + 4^{44} + 4^{45}

All the terms except

4^{44} + 4^{45}

are divisible by 17 (as 1 + 4 + 16 + 64 = 85 which is a multiple of 17).
Now,

\frac{4^{45} + 4^{44}}{17} = \frac{4^{44} (4 + 1)}{17} = \frac{{(4^{4})}^{11} \times 5}{17} = \frac{{(255 + 1)}^{11} \times 5}{17} = \frac{1^{11} \times 5}{17} = \frac{5}{17} .
