The ratio of the areas of two squares, one having its diagonal double than the other is

Options:

A . 2 : 1

B . 2 : 3

C . 3 : 1

D . 4 : 1

Answer: Option D

Let the diagonals be 2d and d.

Then, ratio of their areas = `(1/2 xx (2d)^2)/(1/2 xx d^2)`

= `(4d^2)/(d^2)`

= `4/1` = 4 : 1.
