Options:
A .  8 cm
B .  `8sqrt(2)`cm
C .  `4sqrt(2)` cm
D .  16 cm.
Answer: Option A

`d_1` = `4sqrt(2)` cm

`rArr  area = 1/2 d_1^2 = 1/2 xx  (4sqrt(2))^2` = 16 `cm^2`

Area of new square  = (2 x 16) `cm^2` = 32 `cm^2`

`:.`      `1/2  d_2^2 = 32`

`rArr    d_2^2  = 64`

`rArr   d_2 = 8 cm`
