The area of a rectangle is thrice that of a square . If the length of the rectangle is 40 cm and its breadth is `3/2` times  that  of the side of the square , then the side of the square is :


Options:
A .  15 cm
B .  20 cm
C .  30 cm
D .  60 cm
Answer: Option B

Let the side of the square be `x` cm,  Then , its area  = `x^2`. `cm^2`

Area of the rectangle  = `(3x)^2` `cm^2`

`:.`     `40  xx 3/2 xx x =  3x^2`

`hArr    x = 20`
