If 25% of a number is subtracted from a second number , the second number reduces to its five-sixth. What is

the ratio of the first number to the second number ?

Options:

A . 1 : 3

B . 2 : 3

C . 3 : 2

Answer: Option B

Let the numbers be `x and y`

Then, y - 25% of `x = 5/6 y hArr y - 5/6 y = 25/100 x hArr y/6, x/4 hArr x/y = 4/6 = 2/3`
