Farookh eats 4 pieces of the apple and gives 5 pieces to his friend.

∴ Total pieces of apple eaten = \frac{5}{12} + \frac{4}{12} = \frac{9}{12} Remaining pieces = 1 - \frac{9}{12} = \frac{12 - 9}{12} = \frac{3}{12} (Reducing by common factor) = \frac{3 \div 3}{12 \div 3} = \frac{1}{4} Multiply by 25 (both numerator and denominator) = \frac{1 \times 25}{4 \times 25} = \frac{25}{100} = 0.25
