Answer: (a)Water content in 40 litres of mixture = $40 × 10/100$ = 4 litresMilk content = 40 – 4 = 36 litresLet x litres of water is mixed. Then, ${4 + x}/{40 + x} = 20/100$${4 + x}/{40 + x} = 1/5$20 + 5x = 40 + x4x = 20 ⇒ x = 5 litres
